For my primary audience research, I asked thirty
people (fifteen males and fifteen females) aged between 13-21+, ten questions
that would allow me to establish what the consumer needs are. By doing this, I
give myself the opportunity to develop my three media texts on the foundation
of the data I gather thus I will be aiming to directly satisfy the target
audiences demands which in turn will establish my products as successful. From
my results, I have developed an understanding that my target audiences favourite
genre of film is horror followed closely by comedy; They feel the actors and
narrative of a film trailer are the two most essential elements; The main image
of a film poster is what instantly catches their eye- therefore this will be
the part I focus on; ‘Withheld’ is the most popular option for a horror film
based upon the subjects of stalking and kidnapping; Interestingly, my target
audience prefer simple film posters but busy magazine covers- therefore both
products will be very distinctive; Lastly, Scary Movie and Final Destination
are very appealing to my target audience whilst Black Swan is not as
preferable. All this research can be used and developed during the course of
the project.

Alternative Cover #3
This is third alternative to my magazine cover which I feel is an intresting publication which could be available to the audience electronically via the internet as the distorting effect looks effective as this shows how conventions can also be challenged as I feel this would be more appealing towards my target audience.
Alternative Cover #2
Here is the second alternative to my magazine cover which is taken from the original magazine cover and then been added a special gradient effect which makes the whole cover look more vintage. I felt as if this couldnt be used as a magazine cover in production due to how the effect isnt conventional and wouldn't be appealing towards my audience.
Alternative Cover #1
Here is the first alternative to my magazine cover as I added special filters in which makes the magazine look more appealing. I took the original cover as the template and added a special effect called 'Lens Flare' which adds light and brightness on the magazine as the light behind the characters head also shows the contrast in both darkness and light.
Final Magazine Cover
This is my final magazine cover which was created in Photoshop as I have applied all the general conventions which are seen within a magazine cover also taking into consideration of the appriopriate layout. The magazine cover is seen to busy with many features surronding the main image as from the primary research in which I conducted found that magazines are generally busy and also appeal to my targeted audience which I discovered from my questionaire results.
Making Of The Magazine Cover
Below is a clip in which i carried out the stages to construct my final magazine cover for my media package. The process was carried out on Adobe Photoshop as the layout which I have adpated with this magazine is from my third flat plan as I found the main image to be dominant and on the left hand thirds placed all my coverlines and articles.

Magazine Moodboard
Below is a small selection of magazine seen in a moodboard as I wanted to research basic magazines in which would help me find the basic conventions in which I should be needed when making my magazine as this gave me a brief idea on how the magazine layout is constructed by having a main image and also an appealing masthead as this is vital information which I should take into consideration

Introduction to Magazine Covers
As now I had successfully created and edited the trailer and
also produced a professional standard of a film horror poster, my main focus
would now be on producing an effective magazine cover which relates to my films
release as altogether this would create an effective campaign. Firstly I would
research on the basic elements of a horror magazine cover by analysing them thoroughly
and to develop understanding on certain aspects. Once I have gathered enough
information which would help me show a clear understanding on how I would
picture my magazine cover I will create various flat plans which would show all
my ideas and would help me think of amendments and improvements when coming to
creating the cover. Then lastly taking all my research into consideration I would
then complete the final touches to my magazine cover.

The Final Poster
After much consideration and editing and also choosing from a wide range of alternatives, I found this to be suitable enough to be my horror poster as it followed all the basic conventions of a poster and also the use of editing was moderate allowing me to create a 'spooky' atmosphere with the characters face faded in with the background with blood dropping down the face as this creates ambiguity. The coverline and masthead are appealing being relatively close to the main image and also the credits are included to give the audience relevant information which is needed. Features such as my institutional logo's and age certificate are also included to show awareness of the distributors and the targeted audience.
The Alternative Poster #3
The third alternative poster was edited by using a 'lens flare' feature which made the horror poster give a bright effective shining a rays of light onto the the image and the reflection shown towards the typeface and credits. Editing styles like this are not conventional in horror posters as having this effect changed the way in which I had created a 'spooky' atmosphere as I found this not to be appropriate for my final poster.
The Alternative Poster #2
For the second alternative poster which was created and edited on Photoshop, I used an editing technique which was used on the characters face as this creates distortion also making the character more threatening and scary as if the character was a ghost. After much consideration I thought that this wouldn't be the ideal poster as the brightness didn't contrast with faded image which I had used.
The Alternative Poster #1
This is the first alternative poster which was created on Photoshop, I have used my final poster as my template and then used a variety of brightness techniques in order to make the poster look more attractive and stand out, as horror posters are used to represent darkness, the use of brightness didn't contrast well as I decided this wouldn't be effective.
Making of My Final Poster
Here is a clip which helps to show the processes in which I created my final film poster on Adobe Photoshop. Whilst creating my final cover I found myself to adapt to the first flatplan in which I created as the main image and typeface are the dominant features which would appeal to the audience.
